  • A video of Kylian Mbappe angrily walking off from a counterattack in PSG's most-recent Ligue 1 game has gone viral
  • The 23-year-old Frenchman cut a frustrated figure in Paris Saint-Germain's 5-2 win over Montpellier Saturday evening
  • Despite his frustration, Mbappe managed to get among the goalscorers after missing a spot-kick in the first half

Paris Saint-Germain continued from where they left off last week with an emphatic victory over Montpellier at the Parc des Princes on Saturday, August 13.

A brace from red-hot Brazilian playmaker Neymar in conjunction with solitary strikes from new signing Renato Sanchez and the returning Kylian Mbappe laced with an own goal from Falaye Sacko ensured PSG continued their 100 per cent start to the new season.

Despite the landslide victory, what has dominated the headlines and gained traction was an off-the-ball incident by Kylian Mbappe.

The Frenchman, who rejected a chance to join Real Madrid in favour of a contract extension with the Parisians, returned to Christoph Galtier's starting lineup for the first time this season.

His return to the lineup did not start as planned as the 2018 World Cup winner saw his first-half penalty saved by Montpellier goalie Jonas Omlin.

Mbappe's penalty miss from 12 yards, the first time since March 2019 against Marseille, appeared to have taken a toll on the 2022 Ballon d'Or nominee during the course of the game.

In a video posted on Twitter, seen by Sports Brief, the Frenchman peeled off to the left as PSG went on the counter but to his utter dismay, midfielder Vitinha would choose to pass the ball to Messi which did not go down well with him.

Mbappe would stop running and throw his hand in the air - a gesture to register his displeasure.

He would, however, get his chance to score in the seven-goal fest but the act of registering his displeasure did not go down well with football fans as many described his act as 'disrespectful'.

Neymar inspires PSG to back-to-back wins

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Neymar continued his outstanding run of form at the start of this season with a brace, while Kylian Mbappe marked his return to the side with a goal as Paris Saint-Germain trounced Montpellier 5-2 in Ligue 1 on Saturday.

Mbappe had a first-half penalty saved in his first competitive outing of the campaign after suspension and injury, but he made up for that by converting following a Neymar corner in the second half.

Earlier, Falaye Sacko's own goal gave PSG a 39th-minute lead at the Parc des Princes, and Neymar netted a spot-kick to make it 2-0 at the break.
