Messi won his latest trophy on Sunday evening when he helped Paris Saint-Germain to win the French Super Cup. PSG beat Nantes 4-0 to bring Messi's tally to 41 trophies won in his career.

Messi won the majority of his trophies during his spell at Barcelona, where he won all the trophies available at his disposal. He was part of Pep Guardiola's squad of 2009, where they won the historic sextuple.

The 35-year-old has four Champions League titles and two trophies with his national side Argentina. He also has 10 La Liga titles, seven Copa del Reys, seven Spanish Super Cups and three UEFA Super Cups and Club World Cups each.

Alves is clear of Messi by virtue of his globe-trotting career that has seen him play for European giants like Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain. The Brazilian is still playing, having joined Mexican side Pumas UNAM.

Both Messi and Alves will be angling to win the World Cup in Qatar. Messi is certain to be on Argentina's team, while Alves will be pushing to impress Brazil head coach Tite to make it to the talented squad.
