  • Kermit Erasmus became the biggest news in South African football earlier today
  • The striker was revealed as Orlando Pirates' last-ditch deadline day signing from Mamelodi Sundowns
  • Erasmus had also been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs as it became clear that he was on the way out in Tshwane

Local football continues to shake following Kermit Erasmus' latest move.

The 32-year-old striker has returned to Orlando Pirates after being given the green light by Mamelodi Sundowns, where he was completely out of favour. Erasmus had also been strongly linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs, but it turns out the Amakhosi cooled their interest in him.

Erasmus departed the Buccaneers for French club Rennes after a successful stint between 2013 and 2016. According to Transfermarkt, the centre-forward made 80 appearances for the Buccaneers between 2013 and 2016, scoring 21 times for the Soweto giants.

Percy Tau to make an unexpected and dramatic return to Al Ahly

South Africa's midfielder Percy Tau is expected to make a surprising return to training at Egyptian club Al Ahly following an injury lay-off.

As revealed by Sports Brief, this was in contrast to reports that he was going to leave the club following his fall down the pecking order, especially after Pitso Mosimane's departure.

It was also reported that injuries and a loss of form had also seen him missing out on Hugo Broos' latest Bafana Bafana squad.
