Local football lovers are in for a treat today as three DStv Premiership games take centre stage.

Marumo Gallants take on Chippa United in the first game of the day, with Sekhukhune United hosting Maritzburg United in the second.

In the headline game of the three fixtures, Orlando Pirates will take on SuperSport United with a spot in the top four up for grabs.

Marumo Gallants could jump as high as fifth place in the Premier Soccer League if they beat Chippa United today. Gallants have been in great form of late, knocking Orlando Pirates out of the Nedbank Cup and beating Stellenbosch FC in their last league game.

Chippa United on the other hand finds themselves three points above the relegation zone. Kurt Lentjies' side have Swallows FC, TS Galaxy and Baroka FC breathing down their necks. A win for Chippa United will take them about Maritzburg United, should the KwaZulu-Natal side fail to win today.

Sekhukhune United vs Maritzburg United

Sekhukhune United are level on points with Marumo Gallants on the Premier Soccer League (PSL) table and could also jump up the table with a big win. Sekhukhune United come into the game on the back of a defeat to Cape Town City.

Their opponents, Maritzburg United, will be still buzzing after beating Mamelodi Sundowns in their last game, Sowetan LIVE reported. The KwaZulu-Natal side are four points above the relegation zone and will be looking to put some more points between them and the chasing pack.

Orlando Pirates vs SuperSport United

SuperSport United are currently seventh on the PSL log but a win could see them leapfrog the Buccaneers into fourth place. Matsatsantsa come into the game on the back of a win over Amazulu, while Orlando Pirates’ last game in the league was the Soweto Derby defeat. The Buccaneers then lost in the Nedbank Cup but did pick up a good win in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Orlando Pirates co-coach Mandla Ncikazi has spoken up about the increased calls for his and co-coach Fadlu Davids' sacking.

Pirates have been playing poorly in local competitions since the league resumed in February following the 2021 African Cup of Nations. They have won only one match - in the Nedbank Cup - from which they were recently eliminated.

Things have been far rosier in the CAF Confederations Cup, where the Sea Robbers are on the verge of sealing qualification into the quarterfinals. It remains to be seen whether continuing success on the continent will prevent the club from making Ncikazi and Davids walk the plank.
