  • As a result of the allegations, Greenwood was suspended by Manchester United and lost several huge deals including one with Nike

Manchester United has maintained that striker Mason Greenwood remains suspended despite the fact that his name appears in the list of forwards in the club website.

Things took a turn for the worse for Greenwood after he was arrested in January 2022 over suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.

The 20-year old was taken into custody and police were afforded more time to question him.

What ensued for Greenwood was the loss of several lucrative sponsorships such as Nike as well as the removal from the popular video game FIFA.

On Thursday, March 31, hawk-eyed fans noted that on the Manchester United website, Greenwood’s name was still present, coupled with a brilliant description of the striker.

"An exciting striker who has been well ahead of schedule in terms of his progress through the ranks at United and has made a huge impact in 2019/20." Greenwood’s profile read.

However, Manchester Evening News journalist Samuel Luckhurst was quick to diffuse assumptions that Greenwood had been reintegrated back into the Manchester United squad.

According to Luckhurst, United’s stand on Greenwood remains unchanged, and the striker is still suspended by the club.

“His profile has always been on desktop website as he's an United player. Club say his status hasn't changed,” a tweet from the journalist said.

Greenwood was released on bail three days after his initial arrest and continues to be the subject of an investigation.

The last time Manchester United publicly spoke on the situation was on February 1 when the club said:

“Manchester United reiterates its strong condemnation of violence of any kind,”
