Manchester United’s sacking of Ole Gunner Solksjaer has proven costly for the club after the Old Trafford club disclosed their financial figures for the second quarter of the year.

The Norwegian manager was sacked in November 2021 following poor results with Manchester United struggling to keep pace with the top four position in the Premier League.

According to a report via The Sun, Ole Gunner Solksjaer received a hefty £7.5million compensation package after his sacking in November.

The Red Devils confirmed they handed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and certain members of his staff which included former United midfielder, Michael Carrick a collective payout of up to £10m.

Solksjaer had recently signed a new three-year deal with the Red Devils earlier after emerging second in the Premier League and reaching the Europa League final the previous season.

Manchester United not newcomers to hefty coaches payout

Meanwhile, Manchester United are no stranger to paying huge sums of money whenever the club decides it wants to part ways with its managers.

According to Goal, Jose Mourinho received a fee in the region of £22.5m after getting axed as Manchester United manager in 2018.

David Moyes who took over reigns at Manchester United when Sir Alex Ferguson retired was given a severance package of £5m after his sack in 2014.

Dutch manager, Louis Van Gaal also got £5m after getting the sack at Old Trafford in 2016.

Man United Provide Crucial Update on Hunt for Permanent Manager

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Manchester United football director John Murtough has revealed the search for the club's next permanent manager is in top gear.

United are in the market for an experienced manager who will take over at the end of the season when interim boss Ralf Rangnick steps down to assume a consultancy role with the club.

Rangnick has been managing the Red Devils since December 2021 when he was brought in to fill the void left by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who was shown the door after a string of poor results.
