Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has slammed Thierry Henry over his comments about Erling Haaland.

Haaland has been one of City's standout players this season, with the Norwegian enjoying a fine start to life in the Premier League.

The former Borussia Dortmund hotshot has scored an eyewatering 32 goals for the Citizens since he joined them last summer, with 26 of those goals scored in the Premier League.

According to The Sun, Henry recently took issue with Haaland, claiming that his presence in the team makes Man City too predictable.

However, Guardiola has now leapt into the defence of his star player, insisting that City's style of play is entirely dependent on the entire team and not just Haaland.

"I would say that I understand exactly what Titi [Henry] wants to say, the fact we play and we put the balls to Haaland," Pep said via The Sun.
"Being less predictable does not depend on Haaland it depends on the way we can make the process to arrive in different channels to the final third, not just with Erling," he continued.

Meanwhile, Haaland was anonymous during Man City's Champions League knockout clash against RB Leipzig.

The first leg of the tie played on Tuesday night ended in a 1-1 draw.

Haaland matches Aguero's record

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Haaland took his tally to 26 in just 21 games for the season. These astronomical stats made City’s summer signing clock another milestone.

He now has the same number of goals as the legendary Sergio Aguero did in his best-ever Premier League season.

In the 2014-15 campaign, the Argentine was unstoppable, as he managed 26 strikes that season under the guidance of Manuel Pelligrini as Man City finished the season in second place, behind Chelsea.
