  • Erling Haaland was on target once again as Manchester City beat Arsenal to reclaim top spot in the Premier League
  • The Norwegian’s striker drew himself level with Sergio Aguero’s goal tally in his most prolific season in the top flight
  • Remarkably, Haaland has matched Aguero's 26-goal tally despite having played 12 games less than the former player

Manchester City ace, Erling Haaland continued to prove why he was worth every penny as he hit yet another landmark with his goal against Arsenal on Wednesday, February 15.

The Citizens visited the Gunners in a crunch Premier League encounter, knowing maximum points would be enough to see them displace the North Londoners at the top of the table.

Kevin De Bruyne got the visitors ahead in the 24th minute as he capitalised on an under-hit back pass from Takehiro Tomiyasu, to loop a first-time finish past Aaron Ramsdale.

The pressure eventually paid off as Jack Grealish put the visitors in front in the 72nd minute, before Haaland put the result beyond doubt to end his rare three-game goal drought.

Haaland, the record breaker

With his goal, Haaland took his tally to 26 for the season, in just 21 games. These astronomical stats made City’s summer signing clock another milestone, as he now has the same number of goals as the legendary Sergio Aguero did in his best-ever Premier League season.

In the 2014-15 campaign, the Argentine was unstoppable, as he managed 26 strikes that season under the guidance of Manuel Pelligrini as Man City finished the season in second place, behind Chelsea.

According to stats from the Premier League, Haaland has now matched that tally in a mere 21 games and will almost certainly surpass it.

De Bruyne trolls Arsenal fans

Sports Brief also reported on Kevin de Bruyne’s cheeky dig at Arsenal fans after the victory on Wednesday.

He was withdrawn for Kalvin Phillips late into the game as Pep Guardiola sought to hold on for the three points.

The 31-year-old took the long way back to the technical area to rile up Arsenal fans and also trolled them on social media.
