- Erling Haaland's horrible miss in Manchester City's Community Shield has caused a massive stir among social media users
- The Norwegian goal machine was a pale shadow of his usually efficient self as his side slumped to a 3-1 loss to Liverpool
- Haaland will hope to get his goalscoring boots back on when Man City square off against West Ham next Sunday
Manchester City's marquee signing Erling-Braut Haaland had an outing to forget when his side stumbled to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Liverpool in the Community Shield.
Haaland scored on his unofficial debut for Man City against Bayern Munich in pre-season and was predictably handed a starting berth in the traditional curtain raiser to the Premier League.
The 23-year-old Norwegian international and his teammates were on the receiving end of Liverpool's incessant attacks at the inception of the game and it came as little surprise his side conceded the first goal.
Despite struggling to make an impact, Haaland caused some havoc on the other hand when his effort was smothered by Adrian before recess.
At halftime, statistics showed that the former Borussia Dortmund had the fewest touches on the pitch.
Things went from bad to worse in the second half when his side fell down two goals further despite Julian Alvarez's strike.

But it was Haaland who will make the headlines for the wrong reasons when he missed a gilt-edge chance at the dying embers of the game to reduce the deficit.
Haaland will hope to quickly brush this setback behind him when the Cityzens play as guests to West Ham on Sunday, August 7.
Below are some of the comments on social media:
"What a terrible performance from Haaland today. He missed two sitters. I expect him to come back strong from this though."
"The smile after the miss says it all. He will come good. He had a bad outing today but he is too good a player not to excel at City."
@AryanRajvansh17 cheekily compared Haaland to Lukaku
"Erling haland watched videos of lakkaka."
@TrolledByHarden questioned the abilities of the Norwegian:
"Haaland getting exposed vs a premier league team"
"They must really miss Gabriel Jesus at this point."
Statistics show Haaland was the worst player after halftime in Community Shield
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Manchester City’s Erling Haaland had a first half to forget on Saturday, July 30 during the season's curtain raiser against Liverpool.
Pep Guardiola gave Haaland the nod to start for the Citizens in his first competitive game, but the former Borussia Dortmund struggled at the King Power Stadium.
Haaland joined Manchester City in a £51 million deal earlier this month and is expected to lead Pep Guardiola’s attack in the 2022/23 campaign.
