Man City have booked their spot in the semi-finals of the FA Cup following their 4-1 comfortable win over Southampton at St. Mary's on Sunday, March 20.

The encounter was marked with four different goalscorers, with Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez, and Phil Foden all finding the back of the net.

City went into the encounter fresh from their recent qualification for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

How Man City sunk Southampton

Both teams had a blistering start into the match, with Southampton having the best opportunity to score when Adam Armstrong hit the post in the 10th minute.

City's aggressive attack saw them score the opener through Raheem Sterling two minutes later, with the Englishman a mistake from Jack Stephens.

Ilkay Gundogan had a chance to double the advantage before the half-hour mark but was unlucky as his effort rattled the post.

The hosts scored a deserved equaliser moments before the break after they benefited from an Aymeric Laporte own goal.

It was the second half of the match that saw City put the game to bed, with Foden, De Bruyne, and Mahrez all scoring.

Who else has qualified for the semis

Meanwhile, City's safe passage to the semis will see them join rivals Chelsea and Crystal Palace in the last four.

Liverpool are the other side who will be looking to join the three EPL teams in the next round of the tournament when they play Championship side, Nottingham Forest, later on, Sunday, March 20.

Chelsea book spot in FA Cup semi

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Middlesbrough vs Chelsea FA Cup meeting ended in a 2-0 win in favour of the Premier League giants.

Two first-half goals from Romelu Lukaku and Hakim Ziyech were enough to earn the Blues a comfortable win at Riverside Stadium.

Thomas Tuchel's side now face an anxious wait to discover their semi-final opponent as they push to win the FA Cup for the first time in nearly four years.
