Former Liverpool star Emile Heskey has urged the Premier League club to make efforts to sign Nigerian international Victor Osimhen.

Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham, Bayern Munich and Liverpool are all said to be monitoring the player’s situation in Italy.

It is believed that Spurs are desperate to land a new striker following the uncertain future of Harry Kane, who could leave next year.

However, Napoli have insisted their star player will go nowhere for any amount less than the €120 million price tag.

Heskey hopes Liverpool can land the Nigerian, and told safebettingsites, via Tribuna:

"He would certainly give them something different to what they have now. He’s different to Nunez, who can play out wide; Osimhen would be that central goal threat. He’s quick, has an eye for goal and can finish really well with both feet."

Heskey described Osimhen as a top player and believes Napoli are asking for a high transfer fee due to the price they paid for him.

"I saw him score against Leicester last season in the Europa League, and he’s a top striker and would certainly enhance Liverpool’s options in attack - without a doubt."

Heskey also believes Osimhen's pace would be very suited to the English Premier League.

Osimhen: Capello reveals Madrid’s interest

Sports Brief earlier reported that a former AC Milan manager, Fabio Capello has suggested that Spanish giants Real Madrid could swoop on Osimhen.

Capello hinted at this during the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, where the 23-year-old Nigerian was named the young player of the year.

The former Italy manager disclosed that Los Blancos might be planning to raid Napoli as soon as the January transfer window opens.
