  • Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is seemingly happy with the club’s acquisition of Darwin Nunez from Benfica
  • The Reds confirmed the signing on a long-term contract and Trent is ready to supply the new striker with his usual promising deliveries
  • Trent has already made over 200 Premier League appearances for Liverpool and has 65 Premier League assists to his name

Trent Alexander-Arnold has welcomed new Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez in the most remarkable fashion. Nunez completed his 85 million euros move from Benfica on Tuesday.

He now becomes the club’s most expensive signing ever after eclipsing the record set by Virgil Van Dijk’s transfer from Southampton in 2018.

Trent quickly took to his Twitter account to ask the Uruguyuan international:

Welcome to Liverpool Darwin! How may I assist you?

The English defender has cut a reputation for himself as a regular source of assists since making his debut for the Jurgen Klopp side. He has established himself as one of the best fullbacks in the game, with his deliveries always giving defenders nightmares.

Nunez meanwhile has quickly risen to fame thanks to his exploits with Benfica last season, where he scored 34 goals across all competitions including some crucial goals in the Champions League.

The idea of Nunez and Trent linking up will surely excite Liverpool fans who will be hoping to take the Premier League trophy from Manchester City. Nunez is aerially gifted and has the ability to attack open spaces.

He is expected to take Roberto Firmino’s space in the Liverpool team. The Brazilian has been hampered by injuries of late. Nunez will line up with Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz or Diogo Jota with Sadio Mane looking more likely to leave the club this summer.

The Kop can certainly hope that Nunez will be their answer to City signing Erling Haaland.

Details of Nunez’s deal to Liverpool

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Liverpool have completed the signing of striker Darwin Nunez from Benfica for an initial fee of £64m.

The fee could potentially rise to £85m if a number of milestones are fulfilled which would make the striker a record signing for the Merseyside club, surpassing £75m paid to sign centre-back Virgil van Dijk in 2018.

There is a valid reason behind Liverpool pursuing the Uruguay international with so much aggression. He was the top scorer in the Primera Liga with 26 goals in 28 games and managed to impressively bag six goals in 10 Champions League games.
