  • Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah's wish of playing Real Madrid in the Champions League finals has been realized after Madrid edged past Man City in a dramatic game
  • Salah's first Champions League finals, four years ago, was truncated by a Sergio Ramos-enforced injury and ever since then he has had a personal vendetta against the Madridistas
  • He will have a chance to exact revenge on Real Madrid when Liverpool crosses swords with the Spanish giants in this season's finals

Mohamed Salah's earnest prayer has been answered by the 'football gods' after he earlier revealed his preferred opponent for this year's UEFA Champions League finals.

The Egypt and Liverpool talisman in a post-match interview disclosed he would want to meet Real Madrid in the finals.

And his request has been fulfilled with the 29-year-old forward eyeing revenge against Real Madrid, the most successful club in the history of the UEFA Champions League.

He earlier helped Liverpool reach its third Champions League finals in five seasons after by-passing Villarreal across two legs.

Madrid on the other side of the coin staged an era-defining comeback against Manchester City in an enthralling game to book a date with Liverpool.

This season's finals will be a repeat of the 2017-18 final which saw the Los Blancos chalk a record-extending 13 Champions League crowns when they overcame the Reds by three-goals-to-one in Kyiv, Ukraine.

What was Mo Salah's Champions League final wish?

And ahead of the game, Salah told BT Sports that he is hoping to avoid Manchester City in the final.

"It's great to be in the final for the third time in five years," he said. "I want to play Real Madrid, I have to be honest. Hopefully we'll win it from them as well."
