Liverpool has qualified for the 2022 UEFA Champions League final after defeating Spanish side, Villareal 5-2 on aggregate.
The Reds had won 2-0 in the first leg played at Anfield and needed to avoid a two-goal defeat to secure a third Champions League final under Jurgen Klopp.
Liverpool however had to battle their way to secure a win after Villareal shocked the Reds with an emphatic first-half display but recovered in time to break the hearts of the Spaniards.
A game of high intensity
Villareal knew they needed a more than a miracle to book a first Champions League final and had the perfect start when Boulaye Dia gave the La Liga side a 3rd-minute lead.
Francis Coquelin made it 2-0 to Villareal just before half-time as Liverpool were stunned by the Spanish side.
With the game tied at 2-2 on aggregate, Liverpool made the perfect response in the second half with two quickfire goals from Fabinho and Luis Diaz to restore their 2-goal advantage on aggregate.
Sadio Made put the icing on the cake for Jurgen Klopp’s men after he scored the winner for Liverpool as they marched on to another Champions League final.
The Reds will now meet either Real Madrid or Manchester City in the final as both teams will meet in the other semi-final game to be played on Wednesday.

Having won the first leg 2-0 at Anfield, Liverpool players will be going into this second leg against Villarreal with boosted morale and will want to reach the final of the Champions League.
