The Citizen now reports that offers are pouring in for Akpeyi and the shot-stopper could even sign for the Amakhosi’s rivals, Orlando Pirates.

The publication noted though that Akpeyi wants a move to a team where he won’t be sitting on the bench. The Buccaneers currently have Richard Ofori as their number one choice keeper.

“It is possible that he might end up at Pirates. Chances are high but the only problem is that Pirates have an international goalkeeper in Richard Ofori and Daniel wants to play. I don’t think he will just go to Pirates and become their number one, so that makes it a bit tricky for him,” a source was quoted as saying by the publication.

Pirates are looking to strengthen their goalkeeping department after parting ways with Wayne Sandilands.

The Buccaneers are not the only club interested in Akpeyi’s services, though.

FarPost reported that at the beginning of the month, after his release, Akpeyi was training with Sekhukhune United and could be close to signing with the side.

Kearyn Baccus, Daniel Akpeyi, Leonardo Castro, Daniel Cardoso, Lebogang Manyama, Lazalous Kambole and Samir Nurković will all leave the club at the end of June.

The Amakhosi have also put Anthony Akumu Agay on the transfer list and parted ways with goalkeeper coach, Lee Baxter.
