FootballKaizer Chiefs and Premier Soccer League Reach Agreement, Hearing Will Proceed, Chiefs Will Play Disputed Games
- Kaizer Chiefs have been handed a bit of a boost in their battle with the Premier Soccer League over two fixtures they failed to honour last year
- The Amakhosi will play their two disputed games against Cape Town City and Golden Arrows before the PSL's appeal
- Kaizer Chiefs will play both games no matter what the outcome is of the PSL's appeal to the arbitration ruling
An agreement has been reached in the ongoing legal battle between Kaizer Chiefs and the Premier Soccer League.
In an effort not to disrupt the current season, it has been agreed that Kaizer Chiefs will play their remaining games, including the two disputed fixtures.
The club were due to meet the PSL in court on 10 May to decide whether Chiefs would forfeit the two games, or have them rescheduled as per the arbitration ruling, Soccer Laduma earlier reported.
The South African has now confirmed that the Amakhosi will play the games against Golden Arrows and Cape Town City, regardless of what happens in the scheduled hearing.
If Kaizer Chiefs win the case, the results of the games will remain, but if they lose, the log will be amended to reflect the outcome of the case.
@CashNSport broke down the ruling in simpler terms on Twitter.
The news will be a huge relief for Cape Town City coach, Eric Tinkler, who recently voiced his frustration at the fact that the matter remained unresolved.
With the hearing only scheduled for 10 May and the season coming to an end on 22 May, concerns were raised that the season would have to be extended if Chiefs were granted the right to replay the two fixtures.
The Premier Soccer League will now have to amend the fixture list to schedule the Amakhosi’s games against Cape Town City and Golden Arrows.

Njabulo Ngcobo and Kaizer Chiefs eye second spot in the DStv Premiership, Amakhosi glad to have fans back
FootballCape Town City coach, Eric Tinkler, has spoken about the current legal battle between Kaizer Chiefs and the Premier Soccer League (PSL), Sports Brief earlier reported.
Tinkler questioned why certain rules applied for certain teams, as his Cape Town City side are indirectly affected by the outcome of the ruling. The arbitration ruling in Kaizer Chiefs’ favour meant that the PSL were ordered to reschedule the Amakhosi’s fixtures against Cape Town City and Golden Arrows.
The PSL have appealed that ruling, leaving Eric Tinkler’s side no clearer on whether they will receive the three points or have another fixture to play. Tinkler though, questioned why Chiefs were allowed to take the matter to SAFA when the PSL were dealing with it.
