Being in the top three of the league brings with it the opportunity to play continental football. First and second in the league qualify for the CAF Champions League, while the third-placed team qualify for the CAF Confederations Cup.

The Amakhosi are also 14 points behind Mamelodi Sundowns but have three games in hand. While the tile challenge is just a dream now for the Amakhosi, defender Njabulo Ngcobo feels that a top-two finish would still be a good result for his side, KickOff reported.

"With regard to the log standing, for now, I think that we are doing okay. Hopefully, we will finish in position two, which for me, I think would be something good for the team," he said.

Ngcobo’s new role at the Amakhosi

Much has been made of Ngcobo’s new positional role at the club. Ngcobo was voted Defender of the Season with Swallows in the 2020/22 season but hasn’t played in the role after moving to Kaizer Chiefs. Stuart Baxter has opted to employ the player as a midfielder, a move that has drawn wide criticism from fans and even Bafana coach, Hugo Broos.

As reported by Soccer Laduma, the player admitted that he was still adjusting to playing in an unfamiliar position.

Amakhosi boosted by the return of fans

Kaizer Chiefs return to action this coming weekend when they face Chippa United. The Amakhosi will visit Chippa United and therefore won’t have the benefit of home ground support. Amakhosi’s first game back with fans will be on April 16 when they host SuperSport United, Ngcobo spoke about the fixture and the thought of having supporters back in the stands.

“It’s a good feeling for me to welcome back supporters. As Chiefs, we needed them the most and it will help us a lot to improve in our games. It’s just a nice feeling to have fans back.”

As reported by The South African, Kaizer Chiefs fill a lot more stadiums when out on the road. The publication noted that the Amakhosi often fill the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, the Cape Town Stadium and the Moses Mabhida Stadium. With great support on the road and at home, Chiefs will be hoping that the supporters act as a 12th man that helps them achieve second place.

Reeve Frosler wins the goal of the month award, John Maduka and Mxolisi Macuphu take coach and player awards

The coveted monthly awards in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) have been announced and there are no surprises on who took the goal of the month award home, Sports Brief earlier reported.

Kaizer Chiefs defender, Reeve Frosler won the coveted Goal of the Month award for his stunning strike against Orlando Pirates. Frosler scored the opening goal in the game with a long-range effort.

The win didn’t come as a surprise to many, as Kaizer Chiefs fans often joke about how they would vote for any Chiefs player nominated, no matter how simple the goal was. The PSL announced the winner on their Twitter account, with a video of the strike.
