The surgery option had been ruled out, but the club has now confirmed that the French star will undergo the operation.

Allegri, as reported by the Daily Mail, has said that he expected to have Pogba back in January, effectively locking him out of Qatar. The World Cup is set to begin in mid-November and run for a month.

This latest piece of news will come as a severe blow to Les Bleus' head coach Didier Deschamps. Deschamps is a huge fan of Pogba and relied on him heavily in their run to the 2018 triumph in Russia. It also doesn't help that Pogba's midfield partner N'Golo Kante is also in and out of the surgery table nowadays.

This could open up an opportunity for Real Madrid's new man Aurélien Tchouaméni who has started to thrive in the Spanish capital following the exit of Casemiro.
