Former Ghana international, Sulley Muntari could not hold back the tears during the one-week observation of the late Christian Atsu.

The ex-Black Stars man had to be consoled by former Ghana goalkeeper, Richard Kingson as he struggled to hide his emotions.

Several ex-footballers and teammates of the former Chelsea and Newcastle United winger arrived at the Ajiringanor School park to pay respects to Atsu before his final funeral on March 17.

In a video posted on social media, Muntari was seen trying hard to contain his feelings but eventually lost control, with Kingson lending a hand of comfort.

Atsu tragically passed away following the devastating earthquake which hit Turkey and Syria on February 6.

It took 12 days to find the player after he was trapped under the rubble of the apartment he was staying in.

Atsu and Muntari played together for the Black Stars and were part of the team that saw Ghana qualify for the FIFA World Cup in 2014.

However, the late star retired from international football after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

He made 65 appearances and scored nine goals for the Black Stars.

Atsu's body was found under the rubble of his collapsed apartment in Antakya, South Turkey, after several days of searching.
