Ghana captain Andre Ayew is back in the English Premier League after joining Nottingham Forest.

The 33-year-old signed a six months deal to reunite with former manager Steve Cooper.

Ayew terminated his contract with Qatari giants Al Sadd in January after a season-and-a-half in the gulf and was in talks with Everton and Nottingham Forest.

The former Swansea City forward decided to move to Nottingham, having previously worked with Cooper in the English Championship.

"Nottingham Forest is delighted to announce the signing of Ghana captain André Ayew. The forward joins on a free transfer following his recent departure from Al Sadd and has signed a deal until the end of the season," wrote the club on their official website.

Ayew previously played for West Ham and Swansea City in the English topflight league.

Ayew delighted with Nottingham Forest move

He said:

“I know how big the club is and I know how much the club means to the city and the fanbase. It’s always been difficult whenever I’ve played against Forest and at The City Ground and I love the stadium.
“Steve Cooper is someone who knows me very well and knows how to work with me both on and off the pitch. We have a strong relationship, he’s a special coach and a special human being and someone who I really look up to.”
“I know what I can bring to the team, I’m ready to give my all and make sure that we are able to stay in the Premier League.”

Andre Ayew arrives in England

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Black Stars captain Andre Ayew has reportedly landed in England ahead of his return to the English Premier League.

The 33-year-old terminated his contract with Qatari champions Al Sadd after a season-and-a-half with in the Stars League.

Ayew has been linked with Premier League clubs Everton and Nottingham Forest but a deal is yet to be reached.
