English Premier League side AFC Bournemouth have announced the signing of Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo.

The 23-year-old joins the Cherries on a four-and-a-half year deal from Bristol City.

Semenyo has been in blistering form for Bristol City this season, beginning 2023 with four goals in five games.

"AFC Bournemouth have completed the signing of Ghanaian international Antoine Semenyo from Bristol City. The forward joins on a four-and-a-half-year deal, with the club retaining an option of a further year," wrote Bristol City on their official website.

The Ghana international contributed 43 goals 125 games for the Robbins since joining the Championship side in 2017.

His outstanding displays with Bristol City earned a place in Ghana's World Cup squad, playing the games against Portugal and Uruguay.

"Antoine is an exciting player and one we have monitored for a while.He had interest from elsewhere and so we're delighted to welcome him to the club," said Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake.

He joins Dango Ouattara and Darren Randolph as the Cherries January additions.

Semenyo scores for Bristol City

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo proved why Bristol City are not ready to lose him after scoring to salvage an important point against Blackburn Rovers.

The 22-year-old, who is on the radar of Bournemouth and Burnley, was at the right place at the right time to roll the ball into the net at Ashton Gate.

Bradley Dack gave the visitors the lead after 54 minutes with a clever finish.

Semenyo makes Ghana debut

Bristol City forward Antoine Semenyo made his debut in Ghana's 3-0 win over Madagascar in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old was introduced in the 75th minute for AS Roma youngster Felix Afena-Gyan who got his debut goal for the Black Stars.

The London-born attacker had little time to show his full potential but was very mobile on the pitch within the few minutes he played.
