Asamoah Gyan says Argentina star Lionel Messi deserves everything in football, after leading his country to World Cup success.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward starred for Argentina, scoring a brace in the final as the South Americans defeated France on penalties to win their third World Cup.

Tributes keep pouring in for the man regarded as the greatest player of all-time following his latest achievement.

Gyan took to social media to react to Messi's exploits during the recently ended tournament in Qatar.

"This man deserves everything. Lionel Messi," he posted on Twitter with an accompanying video.

The former Ghana captain was a regular pundit on South African TV channel SuperSport during the World Cup.

In an electric final, Messi's PSG teammate Kylian Mbappe forced the game to penalties after netting a hat-trick.

Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez heroically stopped Kingsley Coman's spot kick, before Aurelin Tchouameni missed as the South Americans won 4-2 on penalties.

Messi ended the tournament with seven goals and was crowned player of the tournament. Mbappe's hat-trick earned him the golden boot, while Martinez was named best goalkeeper.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Messi has been crowned Player of the Tournament after leading Argentina to the 2022 FIFA World Cup title.

The Argentina star netted a brace as La Albiceleste defeated France on penalties to win their third World Cup.

Messi beat PSG teammate Mbappe to the top award, while the Les Bleus forward won the golden shoe after netting a hat-trick in the final.
