Ghana Legend Makes Breathtaking Revelation About His First Time Meeting 'Argentine God' Maradona

Retired Ghanaian footballer, Derek Boateng, has described his first meeting with 1986 World Cup winner Diego Maradona as breathtaking.

Boateng could not believe his sights when he first met the late football legend, as he stayed speechless for hours just to get a hug from Maradona.

Narrating the moment to Ghanaian journalist Dan Kwaku Yeboah, Boateng struggled to find words to explain his feelings at that time.

"I panicked when I first saw him," he told Dan Kwaku Yeboah TV. "Because of him the flight delayed for two to three hours. Anybody passing by wanted to shake hands with him and take pictures.

"I was like wow, I couldn't do anything. I just had to sit down quite and watch while I was waiting for my agent.
"When we landed from the flight I had to follow him and one of his people asked if I wanted a picture with him, I said no and that was when I told them I want to say something to him.
"So when we got to the arrival hall with my agent, I told him to tell him that I was the boy who wore his T-Shirt under my jersey in Argentina. Maradona hugged me and I have never had that before. I was so touched and everything was fine for me.
"It was a great experience. He is a god in Argentina. Maradona is everything in Argentina."

Derek Boateng shot to prominence in 2001 when he featured for Ghana's Black Satellites at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Argentina. Ghana finished as runners-up after defeat in the final against Argentina.

He represented Ghana at the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cup in Germany and South Africa respectively.

Derek Boateng opens up on scary use of 'juju' in Black Stars camp

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that former Ghana midfielder Derek Boateng has revealed that there is the use of black magic popularly known as 'juju' in the camp of the Black Stars.

Boateng represented Ghana at various tournaments including two FIFA World Cups and the Africa Cup of Nations during his hay days.

The 38-year-old who was speaking on GTV Sports Plus' Saving the Passion show made some interesting revelations about what he saw during his time with the Black Stars especially at the Nations Cup in Gabon 2012.
