Jonathan Mensah is responding to treatment and he is in stable condition, according to the Ghana Football Association.

The defender was involved in a horrific injury during the game between Ghana and the Central African Republic in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Angola on Sunday.

In a statement released by the GFA on their official website, the defender is in good condition after suffering concussion.

"Defender Jonathan Mensah is in a stable condition and responding to treatment at Clinica Girasol – a private hospital in Luanda – Angola.
"The Columbus Crew man suffered a head injury during the second half of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Central African Republic and Ghana at the 11 du Novembro stadium in Luanda on Sunday, June 5, 2022," wrote the Ghana Football Association.
The defender suffered a headbutt from an opponent resulting in a concussion. He was given emergency treatment on the pitch before being rushed to the hospital for further treatment.

Mensah collided with a Central African Republic defender, and looked to have fell unconscious as medics rushed to treat him.

He was the sent to the hospital where he received further treatment.

He is expected to fully recover for the trip to Japan for the Kirin Cup tournament.

Mohammed Kudus scores as Ghana share spoils with Central African Republic

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Mohammed Kudus scored for the second game running as the Black Stars of Ghana were held to a 1-1 draw by the Central African Republic in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The game, which was played in Angola, was marred by Jonathan Mensah's injury in the second half following a collision with a Central African Republic defender.

The defender had to be rushed to the hospital after a lengthy spell on the pitch receiving treatment from the team's medics.
