Ghanaian Teen Sensation Fatawu Issahaku Begins First Team Training at Sporting CP

Ghanaian youngster Fatawu Issahaku has started training with the senior team of Portuguese giants Sporting CP.

The player, who turned 18 last month, inked a five-year-deal with the Primeira Liga side as he begins his career in Europe.

Isaahaku was then presented to the Sporting CP fans at the club’s stadium with thousands showing up to see their new player.

The Africa U-20 best player then joined his new teammates for their training session on Tuesday as he gets back to fitness for his new club.

He was all smiles at training as Sporting CP focus on Sunday's titanic encounter against Benfica at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.

After the training session, Issahaku posted on Twitter, with the caption:

The grind don’t stop growing everyday

Issahaku shot to prominence after winning the best player at the Africa U20 Cup of Nations in Mauritania last year.

He was part of Ghana's squad which secured World Cup qualification at the expense of West African rivals Nigeria on the away goal rule last Tuesday.

Issahaku will hope to garner more playing time at Sporting in order to be included in Ghana's roster for Qatar 2022, where the Black Stars have been pitted against Portugal, the Korea Republic and Uruguay.

Abdul Fatawu Issahaku Can Win Ballon d'Or

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Retired Ghanaian international Mohammed Gago has drawn similarities between legendary Abedi Ayew 'Pele' and Sporting Lisbon's new acquisition Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.

According to the former footballer turned coach, the teen sensation has similar attributes to the former Black Stars skipper and reckons he could be the next African player to win the coveted Ballon d'Or award since George Oppong Weah.

Fatawu was recently announced as Sporting Lisbon's latest addition after he inked a five-year deal with the Portuguese outfit.
