The World Cup in Qatar will be the last global showpiece for several Black Stars players.

Ghana qualified for the Mundial after they edged their West African rivals in a nail-biting World Cup last round qualifiers staged over two legs.

The Black Stars are looking to assemble their greatest stars as they vie to become the first African country to at least reach the semi-finals of the Mundial.

With English-born duo Callum Hudson-Odoi and Tariq Lamptey set to be part of the new Black Stars, the 2022 World Cup will also bring forward a final farewell from many outstanding Ghanaian internationals.

Andre Ayew

Andre Ayew has been a sensational servant to his country. The Black Stars captain made his debut for the senior national team, in 2007 at the age of 17. He is the most experienced player in the Ghana set-up, having played in two World Cup tournaments in 2010 and 2014, scoring one goal. While the likes of Asamoah Gyan and Kwadwo Asamoah are no more part of the team, Ayew remains the oldest player in the squad aged 32.

But given he will be 33 in December, surely the son of legendary Abedi Ayew Pele will call it quits by the time 2026 rolls around.

Jordan Ayew

30-year-old Jordan Ayew, who turns 32 in September, could not be good enough for Ghana by the time 2026 rolls around. The Crystal Palace forward will be desperate to make a splash at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, having never scored for the Black Stars in over a year.

But given that Jordan Ayew will be 35 in 2026, another World Cup appearance beyond Qatar feels pretty unlikely.

Andy Yiadom

Born in England by Ghanaian parents, Yiadom made his first senior international debut for the Black Stars in 2017 when they crossed swords against Egypt at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Reading right full-back has gone ahead to play 22 games for Ghana, including his cameo appearance when the Black Stars sealed qualification in Abuja to Qatar at the expense of Nigeria.

The 2022 World Cup will be Yiadom's first-ever World Cup appearance, but at age 30, he may have entered his final World Cup days.

Thomas Partey

Partey helped Ghana book their place at the World Cup finals on Tuesday as he is set to play an important role again for the Black Stars in Qatar.

The Arsenal man's crucial goal against Nigeria in Abuja was enough to hand Otto Addo's men qualification via the away goal rule.

The 28-year-old, who will be 29 in June, seems unlikely to ever don the Black Stars jersey, given that he will be 33 during the 2026 edition.

Dennis Odoi

The Black Stars newbie earned his maiden call up against Nigeria in the World Cup play-offs. He surprisingly started in both legs and put up scintillating performance at both sides of defence in Kumasi and Abuja.

He helped Ghana book their place in Qatar and is set to play an influential role for coach Otto Addo's side.

Born in May 1988, the 33-year-old's time in the national team may truly be up given that he'll be 38 by the time the 2026 edition comes around.

Jojo Wollacott Describes Ghana’s World Cup Qualification As 'Best Feeling Ever'

Sports Brief earlier reported that Swindon Town shot-stopper Jojo Wollacott reckons Ghana's qualification to the 2022 FIFA World Cup is the best feeling he has experienced in his career.

Wollacott, who had come under a lot of backlash following his below-par display at the 2021 AFCON, was instrumental for the Black Stars as they made a return to the global showpiece.

The 25-year-old put up a commanding display in between the sticks for Ghana in the first leg, where he made one crucial save with his feet to deny Moses Simon as the Black Stars recorded a goalless draw at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
