Swindon Town shot-stopper Jojo Wollacott reckons Ghana's qualification to the 2022 FIFA World Cup is the best feeling he has experienced in his career.

Wollacott, who had come under a lot of backlash following his below-par display at the 2021 AFCON, was instrumental for the Black Stars as they made a return to the global showpiece.

The 25-year-old put up a commanding display in between the sticks for Ghana in the first leg, where he made one crucial save with his feet to deny Moses Simon as the Black Stars recorded a goalless draw at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

In the reverse tie, the England-born custodian came up clutch for Ghana once again, where he made three vital saves to ensure the Black Stars qualified to the Mundial at the expense of Nigeria.

Opening up on his experience in the two-legged blockbuster, Wollacott admitted the West African derby between Ghana and Nigeria made the tie intense.

“There was pressure on the game, not just to qualify for the World Cup but for the bragging rights of the country, but I just went into it treating it like another game of football, I didn’t put too much pressure on myself and I’m obviously buzzing and delighted." He told Joy News.
“I’m not that superstitious but I just made sure I had a solid week of training, I eat well and slept right and that gives you confidence,” Jojo explained his preparations ahead of the match.
“Playing for Ghana, I didn’t realise before I went just how much expectation there is from the country and football is massive in Ghana, a lot of people follow it, so to deliver and make Ghana proud is the best feeling."
“It was probably one of the best feelings of my career.” He ended.

Wollacott powers Swindon Town to victory with a mind-blowing assist

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghana and Swindon Town goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott recorded an assist for his side as the Robins defeated Sutton 2-1 at the County Ground on Tuesday night.

Goals from English forward Josh Davison and Harry McKirdy rendered Joe Kizzi's first-half strike a consolation as the Robins recorded their third win in the last five games.

After enduring a 3-1 humbling at the hands of Exeter, Swindon returned to winning ways after posting a one-nil win over Oldham.
