  • Enzo Fernandez was mocked by Brazilian media for his performance against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League
  • But the trolling did not sit well with Enzo’s teammate Thiago Silva, who went on a rant against media
  • The Argentine cost Chelsea a whopping £107 million in the January transfer window

Veteran defender Thiago Silva was quick to jump to the defence of his teammate Enzo Fernandez, who was the subject of mockery from Brazilian media.

Enzo, who was signed by Chelsea for a staggering £107 million, was at fault in midweek during the Champions League round of 16 clash against Borussia Dortmund.

The game was finely poised at 0-0 when Karim Adeyemi went on a blistering run, getting past Fernadez like the midfielder was not there before eventually scoring a stunner.

As reported on SportBible, defeat gave Brazilian media outlet TNT ammo to go at Enzo, as they shared an image of the 22-year old looking dejected along with the caption: “Call the Uber!”.

The post irritated Silva, who retorted with an clapback, saying:

"Lack of (expletive) respect huh!!! Be more serious with your work,"

Enzo looked very bright in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Fulham, but his role in Adeyemi’s goal against Fulham left fans questioning him in a classic case of “you are only as good as your last performance”.

What next for Chelsea?

Chelsea are back in action in the Premier League on Saturday, February 18 where they host strugglers Southampton in a game they are expected to win comfortably.

The Blues are yet to get off the mark under Graham Potter, and are winless since the close of the January transfer window.

It is highly likely Enzo Fernandez will be deployed to control things in midfield once again.
