  • Chelsea have signed João Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid until the end of the season
  • The Portuguese star confirmed he and Reece James had met before making his decision
  • James shared a photo of the two together to welcome the lightning forward to the Blues

Chelsea continued their transfer spending spree by completing the loan signing of Portuguese attacker, João Felix from Atletico Madrid for six months, with no option to buy.

Felix comes into the London club to boost their attacking strength, amid long-term injuries to Christian Pulisic and Raheem Sterling, and ongoing poor form heaping continued pressure on Graham Potter.

In his first words in the Blues jersey, Felix confirmed he met ace defender, Reece James once before at a restaurant in London while on vacation. James shared a photo of their meeting on his Instagram story.

James an influence at Chelsea

The England defender comes across as a friendly and social player, and from his interactions on social media and words from his colleagues, he seems to be the guy that connects with everyone.

Wesley Fofana confirmed he spoke to James on Instagram ahead of his move from Leicester in the summer, claiming the defender told him to come to Chelsea so they could play on the same side, as reported by the Sun.

Felix likewise confirmed he had met James and was full of praise for the powerful defender, as reported by Chelsea Chronicles.

''I met Reece James once when I was in London in a restaurant. Amazing guy,'' he said.

The former Wigan defender shared the photo on Instagram of the two after they met, with a message welcoming Felix to London.

It will be a while before they play together however, as James is still recovering from a knee injury.

Fans fear Felix at Chelsea

Sports Brief earlier reported that Chelsea fans are afraid of Felix wearing 11 - the jersey number he will use for his short stay at the club and the same he wears for the Portugal national team.

The number was last worn by German striker Timo Werner, who struggled to adapt at the club in the two years after his failed move from RB Leipzig.

Felix's number at Atletico Madrid is currently occupied by midfield maestro, Ngolo Kanté whose future at the club also remains in doubt.
