  • However, Potter is adamant he is the right man for the job despite calls from some fans to have him sacked

Chelsea boss Graham Potter has sent a defiant message to Blues fans who want him sacked.

Potter has been at the helm of affairs at Stamford Bridge back in September 2022, succeeding Thomas Tuchel, who had been sacked at the time.

However, the former Brighton manager has endured a tumultuous start to life with the west Londoners, with the side currently placed 10th in the Premier League standings.

The side's poor run of form has seen a section of Chelsea fans call for Potter's sacking, after just four months in charge.

Potter sends message to Chelsea fans

However, Potter is adamant that he is the right man for the job despite a section of the fanbase calling for his sacking.

Speaking ahead of his side's FA Cup clash against Man City on Sunday, January 8, the English tactician further insisted that he has the full backing of the club owners.

"The owners are billionaires so they’re quite smart. Smarter than me, that’s for sure. So they understand the challenges that we have and the direction we want to go in," Potter said via Metro UK.
"There’s nothing you can do, but certainly I’m not here to convince anybody. I’m here to do my I work and then if that convinces then that’s fine," he added.

Chelsea fans blame Kepa

Sports Brief has also reported that a section of Chelsea fans has singled out Kepa Arrizabalaga for blame following their 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Thursday night, January 5, at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues were keen to use the tie to get their campaign back on track following their woeful run of results in the Premier League.

The Graham Potter-tutored side dropped points in their previous outing against relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest and were hoping to earn maximum points against City to boost their top-four chances.

Some Chelsea fans now believe Kepa was responsible for their loss against Pep Guardiola's side after the Spaniard goalkeeper made a blunder to allow Mahrez to score.
