  • Darwin Nunez was brutally trolled by Dominos after a nightmare outing against Brentford
  • Jurgen Klopp’s side succumbed to a 3-1 humbling in another blow to their top four ambitions
  • Nunez, the summer signing from Benfica, was guilty of missing several gilt-edged chances

Liverpool’s summer signing, Darwin Nunez was brutally trolled by fans and popular pizza restaurant chain Domino's for an awful display against Brentford on Monday.

The Reds began their year in the worst possible manner as they fell to a 3-1 defeat against The Bees, who are proving to be the upset kings so far this season.

Having signed from Benfica for £85-million in the summer, there was huge expectation for Nunez to take the Premier League by storm.

Cheeky fans went to the lengths of comparing him to Manchester City’s Erling Haaland at the start of the season.

But the Uruguay international’s life in English football has been anything but easy, and his struggles manifested once again against Thomas Frank’s side.

He has scored nine goals in 21 appearances, and while those numbers are not too desperate, the young striker has often been criticised for missing chances.

Against Brentford, he had a brilliant chance to score as he rounded the goalkeeper, but his shot was somehow blocked by Ben Mee.

As fans came together to troll the striker, Pizza giants Domino's also chimed in with banter of their own, per SportBible.

“Sorry if we’ve missed any orders tonight, we’ve just had this guy start.” Dominos posted on Twitter, to the delight of rival fans.

What next for Liverpool?

Defeat against Brentford left Liverpool in genuine danger of missing out on a top four spot in the league.

They sit in sixth place with 28 points in 17 games, and are now four points off fourth-placed Manchester United, who face Bournemouth on Tuesday.

Focus will briefly shift to the FA Cup, where Klopp’s men will come up against Wolves in the third round on January 7.

Nunez trolled using RnB songs

Sports Brief also reported on how gleeful comedian and Manchester United fan, Dillan Oliphant trolled Darwin Nunez.

The South African jokester went out of his way to annoy his Merseyside arch-rivals, by playing Faith Evans' Missing You, Tamia's Officially Missing You and Aaliyah's Miss You.

The trolling comes on the back of the Uruguayan's dreadful outing in Liverpool's 3-1 humbling at the hands of Brentford.
