Premier League legends Thierry Henry and Jamie Carragher have joined a long list of footballers and football personalities in criticising Chelsea owner Boehly's idea of a Premier League All-Star game.

Henry and Carragher blast Boehly

Speaking on CBS Sports, Henry and Carragher said that Boehly was "incredibly arrogant" to suggest that idea. The American, who purchased Chelsea, a few months ago, said that the idea will help increase broadcasting revenue for the football pyramid. The Liverpool legend couldn't believe what he heard.

When I look at that statement I think is incredibly arrogant to speak about a league that you don't know.
I don't particularly like those ideas but to come and speak like that when he's not even proved that he can run a Premier League club well yet. I mean he's sacked a manager after three games having spent £250million. Straight away you're thinking 'that's not right.

Arsenal legend Henry said he doesn't like those ideas because it is European football.

I don't like them. This is Europe and it doesn't work like that. teams go up and down, All-Star game for what?

The Chelsea owner has caused a stir on social media with his ideas, even eliciting a reaction from Profesional Footballers Association (PFA) spokesperson and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

Boehly suggested that the Premier League needs to have a North vs South All-Star game, like the NBA. He also added that a four-team tournament should decide which teams get relegated as opposed to the bottom three who go down.

Gary Neville criticises US ownership in the Premier League

Sports Brief earlier reported on Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville's reaction to the proposed ideas saying they will ruin the pyramid and destroy the fabric of English football.

The Manchester United legend has been heavily critical of United's American owners, the Glazers, calling them scavengers.
