Graham Potter has reportedly identified his first signing for Chelsea after he accepted the Stamford Bridge job.

The Englishman was appointed the new Blues boss to replace Thomas Tuchel, who was sacked after a slow start to the new season.

Potter will be inheriting a squad largely assembled by former Chelsea managers, including his predecessor.

Sportskeeda now reports that the former Brighton boss is keen to strengthen the current squad as he starts his reign at the west London club.

Graham Potter identifies Bundesliga star as top transfer target

With the summer transfer window shut, reports suggest that Potter has shortlisted RB Leipzig star Josko Gvardiol as a top transfer target.

According to German journalist Christian Falk, Chelsea are planning to go in for Gvardiol during the winter transfer window in January 2023.

Chelsea attempted to sign the centre-back during the recently concluded summer transfer window but their bid of was rejected.

The Stamford Bridge landlords have already spent significantly in their bid to strengthen their backline following the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

The 2021 Champions League winner signed Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli and added Marc Cucurella from Brighton.

They spent a further £75 million towards the end of the summer window to land the services of Wesley Fofana from Leicester City.
