His sacking came just hours after the Blues had suffered a 1-0 humbling defeat at the hands of minnows Dinamo Zagreb in their opening match of the Champions League.

According to The Sun, the former Paris Saint-Germain boss had pleaded with Chelsea chiefs not to sack him as he sought to steady the ship at Stamford Bridge.

The 49-year-old has now made a public appearance for the first time since he was axed at Chelsea.

Tuchel was spotted taking a stroll in the rain in the company of an unidentified man near his home in Oxshott, which is close to Chelsea's Cobham training base.

The tactician, who cut a glum face, complemented his look with grey Nike running trainers and a navy blue beanie hat.

Chelsea reach verbal agreement with Graham Potter to replace Thomas Tuchel as head coach

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Chelsea have reached a verbal agreement with Brighton and Hove Albion manager Graham Potter as the replacement for Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel was shown the exit door on the back of a stuttering start to the season, which continued in a shock 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.

Following the 49-year-old's sacking, the club's top brass, led by Todd Boehly, set their sights on Brighton boss Graham Potter.
