  • Mason Mount has hilariously claimed that Kai Havertz is always watching his winning goal in the Champions League final of 2021
  • Havertz and Mount combined to give Chelsea the goal that saw them beat Manchester City in the final staged in Porto
  • It was the pair's first European trophy under Thomas Tuchel, who had just been in charge for less than six months

If you are a young football player, you always dream of playing in the grandest of stages. And after the FIFA World Cup, there is no bigger stage than the UEFA Champions League.

You'll dream of being part of the team to lift the crown at least once in your career. And if you are lucky, play a huge part in the victory as well. Maybe score a goal, provide an assist or produce a N'Golo Kante-Esque performance in the middle of the park.

I am definitely not speaking from experience, but such moments never leave you. That's why we can't fault Kai Havertz for rewatching his Champions League-winning goal against Manchester City.

In his first full season in England, Havertz etched his name in the annals of Champions League records after he pounced on a pass from Mason Mount with acres of space in front of him. He then rounded the fast approaching Ederson before cooly slotting the ball into an empty net just before half-time.

In an interview with In Soccer We trust, Mount revealed that Havertz never misses an opportunity to watch that goal. Chelsea held on to beat pregame favourites and win the club's second Champions League title.

Havertz is definitely looking at his goal more than I am looking at my sister. I see him on his phone sometimes and when I look over he is watching the goal. He watches it all the time.

At just 22 years of age(at that time), we really can't fault Havertz.

Blow to Chelsea after deal for Nathan Ake falls through

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Nathan Ake is set to remain a Manchester City player after Chelsea failed to meet City’s valuation of the player.

Chelsea were looking to make Ake the second Manchester City player to move to Stamford Bridge this summer after Raheem Sterling.

Tuchel’s side are particularly in need of defensive reinforcements, especially after the exits of Antonio Rudiger and Andres Christensen.
