Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has expressed his surprise at the news that Romelu Lukaku and his agent plan to meet with the club's new owners just 24 hours before their FA Cup final against Liverpool.

Lukaku has struggled to meet expectations at the Stamford Bridge since his club-record £97.5 million move from Inter Milan last summer.

The Belgian striker has scored just 10 goals for Chelsea this season and has lost his place in the starting line-up for the Blues prompting his agent to seek redress from the club’s new owners.

According to a report via the Daily Mail, Tuchel revealed that neither Lukaku nor his agent had spoken to him about their plans but insisted he will not let the issue distract him from the final.

Chelsea are aiming to end back-to-back defeats in the FA Cup final as they seek their 9th trophy in the competition but will need to navigate their way past a resilient and in-form Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are already preparing for the 2022/23 season as the Blues have lined out players they intend to sign to strengthen their squad.

According to the Metro, the UEFA Champions League title holders have reached an agreement with Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic to sign the Croatian on a free transfer.

Inter Milan has yet to strike an agreement with the 33-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

Tuchel breaks silence on rumoured quarrel with Alonso

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Thomas Tuchel has denied the existence of any bad blood between him and Marcos Alonso after they were involved in a bust-up.

The two are thought to have had a heated disagreement shortly after Tuchel substituted Alonso at half-time during Chelsea's Premier League meeting with Wolves.

At the time, the scores were still 0-0, with neither side finding the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes.
