Romelu Lukaku has come under heavy criticism from former Chelsea player, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink over his lethargic performance against Arsenal on Wednesday, April 20.

Lukaku started his first game in two months for Chelsea against the Gunners but was substituted at the hour mark by Thomas Tuchel as he was unable to make a meaningful impact for the Blues.

According to a report via the Chelsea Chronicle, Chelsea icon, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink blasted the Belgian’s performance suggesting the 28-year-old needs to show more desire in his play.

“Going back to Lukaku, he doesn’t do enough. If you want to be the man you need to run around, you need to try to show that you are bothered.
“You need to want to suffer, he doesn’t run around, he doesn’t go into gaps, he doesn’t demand the ball off his players, he doesn’t go into space.”

A brace from Eddie Nketiah in between goals from Emile Smith-Rowe and Bukayo Saka gave Arsenal a deserved 4-2 victory against Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge.

Thomas Tuchel is not giving up on Lukaku

Meanwhile, Chelsea coach, Thomas Tuchel has backed Romelu Lukaku to rediscover his best form again after failing to impress against Arsenal.

According to Sky Sports, Tuchel admitted that getting the Belgian striker back to his goalscoring peak at Stamford Bridge is a source of pride for him.

Lukaku has scored just 5 times in the Premier League this season and has failed to find the back of the net since December.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Arsenal kept their hope of qualifying for the Champions League alive after beating Chelsea 4-2 in tough Premier League battle at Stamford Bridge.

Going into this Premier League encounter, Arsenal players knew that a win would be of great help in their top four chase, and they did themselves lots of good.

Chelsea won the first fixture 2-0 at the Emirates stadium with Romelu Lukaku and Reece James netting the two goals, but they were unable to win this time around in front of their fans.
