"I think I can't describe how we feel, it is an amazing achievement, for my teammates, for me and for my family," he said.
"For the country, it is the first time we won this trophy so it's amazing. Everybody knows what the national team means to me and winning the tournament for the first time in the history of the country is a big achievement.
"I swear nothing like that," he responded to a question on the team's welcome in Dakar. "I think even the World Cup in France in 98 was not like that. The atmosphere, the energy, it was amazing. A million people on the streets, it was phenomenal. I was happy to see everyone, the parents and the kids."

Edouard Mendy added the Club World Cup to his collection on Saturday, February 12, 2022, after staring in the final against Palmeiras.
