Brazilian defender Thiago Silva has extended his contract with English Premier League club Chelsea until 2023 having signed a new one-year contract.
SunSport are reporting that the 37-year-old who joined the London club in 2020 will now remain at the Stamford Bridge until the summer of next year.
Silver has been sensational for the Blues since his arrival, playing a crucial role in helping the club lift the Champions League last season.
He is important to Thomas Tuchel as he featured in 34 matches for the club last season helping them to keeping 18 clean sheets.
The delighted star told the club website:
"To play here is a real pleasure. I never thought I would play for three years here in this great club so I’m very happy to stay for another season.
"I would also like to say thanks to my family, the club, Marina [Granovskaia] and to [Roman] Abramovich for this opportunity.
"I will continue to give everything for this club and for the supporters, who have always been by my side since I arrived.
"It’s amazing to have this relationship with the fans and not only that but the players, staff and the whole club. I’m going to give everything to keep playing at this level in the most important league in the world."

Meanwhile, after showing remorse in a meeting with Chelsea hierarchy, Romelu Lukaku is now in line to return to Blues squad for their semifinal clash against Tottenham on Wednesday, January 5.

It was gathered that there is little chance of him leaving the club anytime soon but could be likely punished for the bombshell interview.

Sports Brief earlier reported that Thomas Tuchel is under pressure as his squad is depleted due to injuries to different players, as well as Covid crisis.
The manager has expressed frustration following Chelsea’s draw at home to Brighton in the Premier League.
He has now said that the Blues are no longer in this season’s title race, lamenting that ‘everyone is injured’.
