Senior members of Chelsea's hierarchy, including director Marina Granovskaia, were understood to have been involved in internal discussions regarding the controversy.

Recall that Lukaku was left out of the squad against Liverpool as discipline for public complaints.

But Sports Brief now understands there is little chance of him leaving the club anytime soon but could be likely punished for the bombshell interview.

Summary of Lukaku's meeting with Chelsea hierarchy

Talks between Lukaku and Chelsea hierarchy occurred on Monday, January 3, and were received positively by all parties.

It was gathered that Lukaku showed remorse in the meeting, with further details to be revealed on Tuesday afternoon, January 4, in Thomas Tuchel's upcoming press conference.

Lukaku changes Facebook bio

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that embattled Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku seems to have changed his Facebook bio, following his controversial interview which did not go down well with his club.

In a recent chat with Sky Italia, the Belgian disclosed that he was not happy with the situation at Stamford Bridge as he admitted his desire to return to Inter Milan.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was not impressed with the comments as the manager stated that the player has only attracted unwanted noise to the club.

Tuchel consequently dropped the player from the matchday squad that played a 2-2 draw with Liverpool in the Premier League on January 2.

And fans have spotted something weird on the player’s official Facebook profile.

While the Belgian's header and cover photo have him in Chelsea colours, his bio simply reads, "Inter Milan".
