Thomas Tuchel is under pressure as his squad is depleted due to injuries to different players, as well as Covid crisis

The manager of Chelsea football club Thomas Tuchel further lamented the injury crisis that has plague his team, ruling out the club for this season’s Premier League title.

Tuchel also stated that it sounds ‘st*pid* for anyone to say they are still in the title race due to their injuries and Covid-19 problems.

Reece James joins Chelsea's injury list

Reece James was spotted on crutches following injury during their draw with Brighton and now they take on Liverpool in their next game.

The Chelsea boss was upset following the home draw with Brighton as they blew away three points following a stoppage time equaliser by the visitors.

Romelu Lukaku returned to the squad but they failed to claim all three points against the Seagulls who fought back for most parts of the encounter and got the equaliser via a Danny Welbeck last gasp header.

Tuchel lamented that all his players are now injured, saying he has no more wing backs.

Speaking after the match, Tuchel said:

"No prognosis yet [on James].
“Players are coming back from Covid. They are playing playing playing. I will always protect my players. We need to digest this and then we will look ahead."

Asked if the Blues can still compete for the title, Tuchel replied:

“How should we be in it? We have seven Covid cases. We have five or six players out for six or more weeks. How should we compete in a title race?
“We would be st*pid to think we can do it out of Covid and injuries and just play, and everybody would be stupid to do it without 23 fit players.”

Salah to feature in Liverpool vs Chelsea tie

Sports Brief earlier reported that Premier League club Liverpool have sealed an agreement with the Egyptian FA over the late release of Mohamed Salah seven days before Africa Cup of Nations kicks off.

The 29-year-old is billed to miss the encounter due to the AFCON tournament, but the Egyptian FA has reportedly agreed for Liverpool player to be released after their game against the Blues.

The Pharaohs of Egypt begin their quest for their eight continental title against Nigeria on January 11, which comes just nine days after the Reds’ trip to Stamford Bridge.
