Marco Reus Scores Stupendous Free Kick As Dortmund Beat Hertha Berlin

Marco Reus starred as Borussia Dortmund dispatched Hertha Berlin 4-1 to go level on points with Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga standings.

The Yellow and Black took the lead in the 27th minute through Karim Adeyemi, after he converted Reus' deflected shot with a deft flick into the back of the net.

Adeyemi created Dortmund's second goal when his cross found Donyell Malen at the far post, who slotted his finish away for his first Bundesliga goal of the season.

Hertha pulled a goal back just a minute into the second half through Lucas Tousart who scored from close range.

But Reus restored Dortmund's two-goal advantage with a finely taken free kick on the edge of the box in the 76th minute.

Substitute, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens went on a mazy run in the 88th minute and slipped in Julian Brandt, who applied the simple finish into the bottom corner for the club's fourth.

Meanwhile, Reus is hoping to extend his stay with Dortmund, but the club are yet to offer him a new contract.

The 33-year-old has been with the Black and Yellow since the 2012/13 season and has played 368 games for the club in all competitions. He's also scored 156 times for the side over the years, Transfermarkt reported.

Marco Reus misses major tournament

Marco Reus’ bad luck before big tournaments has continued, Sports Brief also reported.

The Dortmund captain missed out on the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar due to an injury.

Reus was not selected for Germany’s World Cup squad due to a hurt ankle he could not shake.

Reus' career threatened by injuries

Marco Reus only recently returned from the injury list, but it’s not something he’s unfamiliar with, Sports Brief also reported.

The Borussia Dortmund captain has experienced numerous injuries, which temporarily derailed his promising career.

Reus started his youth career at Dortmund and has spent the majority of his career at the club, apart from a spell at Mönchengladbach.
