Karim Adeyemi made sure he had some fufu after the game against Chelsea, following his exploits for Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League.

The German-born Nigerian disclosed the popular African food has been the secret to his pace.

Adeyemi netted the only goal as the German giants defeated the English titans in the first leg of their UCL round of 16 clash.

In a video shared on social media, Adeyemi revealed his true heritage as he skillfully ate fufu.

A popular dish in Ghana and Nigeria, the delicacy is made from pounded yam and sometimes cassava.

Born to Nigerian parents in Germany, Adeyemi has represented the youth national teams of the European country.

However, he remains eligible to represent the Super Eagles at the senior level.

Adeyemi started his career at Fostenreid before briefly enjoying a spell with Bayern Munich's youth team. He also played for U'haching in Germany and moved to Austria to play for Red Bull Salzburg.

He joined Dortmund from Salzburg in 2022 and has since been a member of the first team.

Adeyemi, who holds the record as the fastest player in the Bundesliga, made use of his pace to bypass Enzo Fernandez before rounding goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Adeyemi's solitary strike was the difference between Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea on Wednesday evening.
