  • Barcelona need to beat Bayern Munich in their upcoming Champions League to keep their qualification hopes alive
  • Leroy Sané has suffered a torn muscle fibre in the back of his left thigh and has been ruled out of action
  • Sergi Roberto will also be unable for Barcelona after suffering a dislocated shoulder against Athletic Club

Bayern Munich will head into their UEFA Champions League game against Barcelona without three of their star players.

The game isn’t as crucial for Bayern, as they have already qualified for the Round of 16, but it is a do-or-die fixture for Barcelona.

The Spanish side needs a win to keep their qualification hopes alive and will be boosted by Bayern’s injury worries.

As reported by Barca Universal, captain Manuel Neuer, Leroy Sané and Lucas Hernandez will all miss the trip to Camp Nou through varying injuries.

Manuel Neuer

The goalkeeper is out of action due to a shoulder injury and also missed the club’s last game against TSG Hoffenheim.

Leroy Sané

The attacker has been sidelined with a thigh injury and is expected to be out for an extended period of time.

Bayern’s website reported that the player suffered a torn muscle fibre. Sané has been in great form so far this season and will be a key absence for Bayern.

Lucas Hernandez

The defender is suffering a strain that he picked up during their game against SC Freiburg. Bayern will have to rely on Dayot Upamecano and Matthijs de Ligt at the back to keep Lewandowski and company quiet.

Barcelona defender set to miss Champions League game after suffering a dislocated shoulder against Athletic Club

Barcelona have suffered yet another major injury setback, after defender Sergi Roberto dislocated his shoulder in Sunday’s 4-0 victory over Athletic Club.

Roberto, who had doubled Barcelona’s lead earlier in the game, had to be stretchered off the pitch in the second half after what looked like a serious injury to the Spanish player, Sports Brief has reported.

Roberto’s chances of making Spain’s World Cup squad for Qatar 2022 seem to be over as well, as the Blaugrana confirmed he is likely to be out until after the global football tournament wraps up.
