  • German champions giants Bayern Munich started their UEFA Champions League campaign with a 2-0 win away to Inter Milan
  • Leroy Sane opened the scoring for the Bavarians in the 25th minute after being set up by Joshua Kimmich
  • The second goal arrived just after the hour mark when Danilo D'Ambrosio deflected the ball into his own net

Leroy Sane inspired Bayern Munich to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Inter Milan in their opening Group C game in the UEFA Champions League at San Siro.

The Germany international opened the scoring after he showed incredible composure before rounding goalkeeper Andre Onana and slotting home in the 25th minute.

The Bavarians made sure of securing the three maximum points after Danilo D'Ambrosio scored an own-goal following a clever one-two involving Sane.

They might have won by a more handsome margin, but Onana did well to keep out Bayern's former Liverpool forward Sadio Mane.

Julian Nagelsman's team will entertain Barcelona next Tuesday at the Allianz Arena while Inter will look to bounce back when they travel to the Czech Republic to face Viktoria Plzen.

Inter Milan will kick off an intense Champions League clash against Bayern Munich at San Siro on Wednesday, Sports Brief had earlier reported.

The Nerazzurri are having a topsy-turvy season so far, suffering a galling defeat against their City rivals in the Milan Derby while the Bavarians shared the spoils for a second successive Bundesliga game.

Inter were kicked out of last season's Champions League by Liverpool but the 2010 European winners aim to go deeper into the competition this time around.

After winning the Serie A in 2019/20, Simeone Inzaghi's side have been dethroned by AC Milan as champions of Italy and they also lost the Coppa Italia final to Juventus last campaign.
