La Blaugrana are eight points clear of rivals, Real Madrid at the summit after conceding just seven goals in 22 games and look certain to reclaim the Spanish league title.

Barcelona are also in contention for a local double as they will face Carlo Ancelotti’s men in the Copa del Rey semi-finals, and a win for Xavi will definitely quench talks about the club showing him the door.

Xavi: Barcelona are 'much better'

Meanwhile, Xavi has insisted Barcelona has been 'much better' despite another Europa League exit after a heart-crushing defeat to Manchester United, Goal reports.

The La Liga giants took the lead thanks to a penalty kick from Robert Lewandowski, but goals from Fred and Antony in the second half helped the Red Devils eliminate Barca.

Xavi also rued the absence of midfielders, Gavi and Pedri whom he says Barcelona missed in the reverse Europa League fixture at Old Trafford.

Xavi on Barcelona's fatigue crisis

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Barcelona manager, Xavi having rotate his squad in the Catalans' victory over Cadiz on Sunday to prevent his players from getting fatigued.

The Spaniard opted to bring in six fresh faces with a host of second-half changes and the club still in the lead, to secure a 2-0 victory and extend their grip at the top of La Liga.

The Barcelona manager has now revealed the Europa League reverse fixture against Manchester United prompted him to make the changes to keep his players fresh.
