  • Manchester United eliminated Barcelona from the Europa League on aggregate score
  • The Red Devils won 2-1 at Old Trafford after the first leg had ended a 2-2 draw in Spain
  • Youngster Alejandro Garnacho took the celebration to the next level on social media

Manchester United and Barcelona delivered UEFA Champions League quality football over two legs in the UEFA Europa League round of 16 playoffs, but it was the English club that progressed to the next stage.

The two matches were keenly contested: the first leg at Camp Nou ended 2-2 despite both teams having opportunities to win or lose it, with the second leg yesterday seeing United take advantage of their home support to send La Blaugrana out.

The Spanish giants took the lead through Robert Lewandowski's penalty in the first half after Bruno Fernandes fouled Alejandro Balde, before two second-half goals from the Brazilian duo of Fred and Antony secured the win for the Red Devils.

He came off the bench in the 67th minute with the scores still at 1-1 but hardly contributed to the win. However, he still mocked Barcelona youngster, Pedri who missed the game due to injury, as confirmed by Barca Blaugranes.

The Argentine youngster, who played for Getafe and Atletico Madrid academies and represented Spain at the U18 level, uploaded a picture of himself doing Pedri's celebration on Instagram with the caption translated as:

"The big team passes the round."

Antony exposes Garnacho's hair style

Sports Brief also reported on Brazilian winger, Antony exposing Garnacho's new style by stealing his headgear to reveal the 18-year-old's new look.

The youngster had gone full blonde before reporting to training at Carrington on Thursday but covered it up with a beanie to avoid attention.

The club is currently in talks with Garnacho to tie him down to a lengthy contract, securing the future of one of a prized asset and academy graduate.
