Barca Universal reported that Leo's father, Jorge Messi, recently visited Barcelona soon after talks were held with Paris Saint-Germain.

Why was Jorge in Barcelona?

Jorge, who is also his son's agent, is reported to have then met with Barcelona president, Joan Laporta while in Spain. Jorge previously denied that he was in the country to speak to the club.

What was discussed?

Football Espana further elaborated that Messi's father and Laporta discussed three topics. Leo's potential return to the club was discussed, as was a possible tribute to the superstar. Laporta has often spoke about erecting a statue outside Camp Nou to honour the Argentinian.

Finally, Matias Messi's comments were also discussed. Matias, Lionel's brother, recently had some harsh words for the club and Laporta.

What did Matias say?

As noted by Marca, Matias claimed that if his brother returned, there would need to be changes made at the club, including the departure of Laporta.

While a return to the Catalan club appears unlikely due to Barcelona's financial struggles and recent payment scandal, anything is possible as the World Cup winner has yet to make a decision on his future.

Jorge labels Messi return impossible

The highly anticipated reunion between Lionel Messi and Barcelona may not just happen after all following the latest revelations from the superstar’s father, Sports Brief previously reported.

The World Cup winner’s current deal with Paris Saint-Germain is set to expire in the summer.

Barcelona has openly declared their interest in bringing the record goal scorer back to the club, but his father and agent said a deal is not possible.
