- Lionel Messi's used tissue paper during farewell press conference at Barcelona is now up for sale in a store
- The Argentina international spent 21 years at Barcelona before his departure winning many titles at the club
- Messi, however, joined French side Paris Saint-Germain where he will lead the attack together with close pal Neymar
In the wake of Lionel Messi’s transfer to Paris Saint Germain, all merchandise associated with the Argentine have their prices over the roof, and for good reason as well.
It is perhaps for this reason that one cheeky fellow decided to take his chance with the piece of tissue used by the 35-year old during his final farewell at Barcelona two weeks ago.
As TUKO.co.ke reported, Messi could barely contain his emotions during his final press conference with Barcelona after it was confirmed he would not be continuing with the club.
While explaining to the media and the world in general that he really wanted to stay but was powerless against the circumstances, Messi broke down in tears and his wife Antonella handed him a tissue in the process.
Bizarrely enough, Complete Sports reports that the said tissue has somehow found its way to an international auction site, and it is going for a small fortune.
The unnamed man who was sitting in the front row during Messi’s final press conference somehow managed to get his hands on the tissue and is now aiming to sell it at a staggering KSh 109 million ($1 million).
His caption on the online ad is quite interesting as well, as he claims the tissue can be used to draw “generic material” which will then be used to “clone” another player like Messi. Outrageous.
It is highly unlikely anyone will be interested in a tissue that has no guarantee that it belonged to Messi in the first place, but the chap certainly deserves an E for effort in his attempt to bring in a million dollars to his account.
Messi signed a two-year deal with PSG where he will reportedly earn €35 million per season (KSh 4.5b), with an option to extend it to June 2024.
At PSG, he will wear the number 30 jersey, which is the same number he wore in his first two seasons at Barcelona before switching to number 19.
The Argentine has already started integrating with his new team in training sessions and is expected to make his debut on August 29 against Reims.
