Nigerian striker Asisat Oshoala has backed Spanish giants Barcelona to edge out Premier League side Manchester United in the Europa League knockout stage.

The draw for the knockout stage of this season's Europa League was done on Monday afternoon, November 7, with Manchester United to face Barcelona in two legs.

Barcelona failed to make it out of the group stage in the Champions League and fell into the second tier of Europe's competition, while Manchester United failed to finish among the top four last season in the Premier League.

United vs Barca: expectations high

The tie between Man United and Barcelona will be a big cracker, as Cristiano Ronaldo will be going head to head with Robert Lewandowski.

Ronaldo will also be returning to Spain to face one of his strongest opponents in career football.

According to a tweet by Oshoala, the Nigerian is a fan of Manchester United, but this time around, she wants to support her Barcelona club to qualify.

A fan on social media asked the Super Falcons striker the team she will support, and Oshoala was initially confused before picking Barcelona.

Barcelona Femeni hail Asisat Oshoala

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Barcelona Femeni hailed Nigerian striker Asisat Oshoala for her brilliant performance for the club, in their big win over Real Madrid in the women's El Clasico on Sunday, November 6.

Even though the Nigerian striker did not score in the tiem which ended 4-0 in favour of Barcelona, she played well against the hosts who were completely mesmerised.

Oshoala and her teammates started the encounter impressively, waiting only four minutes to score their first goal through Ana-Maria Crnogorcevic, who benefited from an assist from Patricia Guijarro.
